Tragedy at Virginia Tech

Could such a great tragedy have been avoided at Virginia Tech?  That is the question many may be asking or thinking.  Not only is this a sad situation for families of the victims, but also family of the gunman.  What a tragedy, such random act of violence, 33 lives lost.  As more news is released, it is becoming clear that the gunman was a very disturbed and troubled individual.  As much as I feel sorry for the victims, I can’t help but also feel sorry for the murderer.  Perhaps there is a valid explanation for his madness, but it will never be a sane reason. Many of those who may have known or interacted with the gunman, will possible feel guilt.  Guilt that will torment them for the rest of their lives, could they have prevented this.  Could they have helped a very troubled man? Could they have saved 33 lives?

Time will reveal more to this madness and I am sure it will not be pleasant.  I can only offer my condolences to the victim’s families, students, staff of Virginia Tech, and to the people of Virginia.  May you have the strength to overcome such great tragedy.
